The Venue Fort Lauderdale is a 16,000 square foot event space in the heart of Fort Lauderdale that hosts events of all types and provides everything needed for an event, including catering, sound and lighting, entertainment services and photographers. Brett Tannebaum, owner of The Venue, has been advertising with Eventective since the summer of 2012.

The Challenge

In the past, event business for The Venue has been primarily booked through word of mouth and referrals. This was good since customers were happy and telling others! However, Brett recognized the importance of an online presence and evaluated opportunities to receive more visibility to people looking for event space online.

The Solution

The Venue had never advertised in print or online and decided to try Eventective because of its high rank for event-related search terms in Fort Lauderdale. Eventective is the only company The Venue advertises with to promote its services to people planning weddings, parties and other social occasions. They do have free listings with a few of the big wedding and event planning websites to maintain a small presence on those sites, but have chosen not to advertise with these companies.

“Since we have been advertising on Eventective first with EventClicks and now with the Premium Subscription, 90% of our calls are from Eventective visitors if they are not referrals. The online exposure we receive with our Eventective ad keeps our phones ringing.” – Brett

The Result

In addition to a noticeable increase in phone calls, Brett said they are receiving more requests for property tours, which are up five times since advertising on Eventective.

“Absolutely without a doubt, we receive a lot of business from Eventective and it is well worth the rate we pay to advertise. Most people completely shop online even for venues and event services. 100% of the brides, meeting planners and people planning bar mitzvahs, parties and other gatherings google us before they contact us directly. They want to find out more about our venue and read reviews and other information available online. Even referrals mention they checked us out online before calling.” – Brett

Brett’s Advice

    • Event businesses have to be online. We have an entire team dedicated to marketing and managing our online presence from our advertising with Eventective to blogs and social media.
    • Keep customers happy. This is important not only for referrals and repeat business but to maintain a positive image online.
    • Ask for recommendations. Because prospective customers are most likely going to find out what others are saying about you before calling you, make sure you have testimonials and recommendations on your website and Eventective listing. This is invaluable to promoting your business.
